Formatting / Layout:

- general page formatting (including margins and page size)

- change music fonts and text fonts to meet the approved Notesmith Music Style Guide formatting requirements

- swap out text markings with text expressions that are assigned to individual notes so those elements will move with formatting and spacing changes currently and on any future revisions of the music


First Page Elements:

- align and format titles, instrumentation identifications, composer, and arranger names on top of page

- verify composers and arrangers are credited correctly and that name are spelled correctly

- place and format initial tempo markings and any metrenome markings

- create and format copyright notices on the bottom of page 1


General Page Elements:

- place and format measure numbers

- adjust formatting and placement of page numbers


Staves / Systems / Measure Elements:

- adjust type and placement of brackets for instrument groups

- format, place, and change instrument names and abberviations to traditional titles

- edit spacing of music both horizontally and vertically

- adjust staff heights and optimize systems that require special treatment

- adjust system margins to fit proper spacing

- resize staff systems to typical publishing and printing standards


Notes / Rests / Beaming:

- replace slurs with ties and vice versa to make sure they are used correctly

- check ever single note and measure for correct harmonic spelling, duration, and beaming

- fix beaming issues when strong beats are obscured

- verify correct harmonic spellings of chords and accidentals within key signatures

- touch up slurs, articulations, and dynamic markings (placement and shape)

- look for consistency among similar melodic and harmonic material and adjust as nessicary

- adjust brackets for duples and triplets


Plug-In Proofing:

- check instrument ranges in pitch

  1. -add cautionary accidentals and naturals

  2. -check all measures for complete durations and rhythms


General:

- general touch up of music and page elements

- add in rehearsal letters (if desired)

- add in bowings for string parts (if desired)

- final proofing of music against originals for accuracy
